About

JVDW Designs is a small design firm, founded by me, John van der Woude, located in Kelowna, BC.

While I use the term “we” in places throughout the site, JVDW Designs is essentially only me. The use of “we” is not meant to make JVDW Designs appear larger than it is, but rather to reflect the richness of my experiences with the clients that I work with every day, and how their contributions have turned JVDW Designs from just me, John, into “we”: myself and everyone I’ve worked with that have helped to build this small design firm into what it is today.

With that aside, more about just me…

Working as a visual designer since 2004, I’ve had the opportunity to work with hundreds of clients from all parts of North America, across a variety of different industries, on (literally) thousands of different projects throughout my career.

In 2004, I received my first design job as a Production Assistant at Orca Book Publishers (Victoria, BC), a children’s publishing house. Since then, I’ve worked both as an in-house designer—for organizations like iPerceptions (Montreal, QC), a tech startup, and Concordia University (Montreal, QC)—and with my own clients since 2007. I’ve been working exclusively as an independent contractor since 2012, and incorporated JVDW Designs in 2019.

My experience is vast, working on projects ranging from books to websites to national marketing campaigns to brand identities, and everything inbetween.

But my greatest pride comes in cultivating long-lasting relationships with my clients, some of whom I’ve been working with regularly since 2007.

My goal is to provide professional services for all my clients—ensuring open and continuous communication, completing all projects on-time and on-budget to the best of my abilities—and, of course, providing professional, high-quality, and ready-to-publish designs in the end.

I’m always interested in new projects and new opportunities. If you have something you could use my help with, don’t hesitate to contact me.

We’re looking forward to working with you!
